90% of British expats prefer life abroad

It’s not a secret that the sun shines brighter outside of Britain, but now we do have numbers to prove it. Nine out of ten British expatriates say their quality of life abroad is better than at home.  This is the result of a survey by NatWest among 1,306 expats living in Australia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Portugal, South Africa, Singapore, Spain, UAE and USA.

According to the survey, expatriates earn more and enjoy better conditions than they would have in Britain.  On average, pay for managers and professionals who choose to work abroad is up to £20,000 higher than they would get here. And the current economic crisis seems to give even more reason to stay abroad: Only one in five now say they will return to the UK, compared to 26 per cent in 2008.
