Abu Dhabi expat rent hike
Expats renting in Abu Dhabi face a rise of 3% on their rent, in a move that brings the city’s municipal contract fees in line with Dubai’s.
The price increase will mean expats living in a two-bedroom apartment will pay around Dh 5,000 more than their current fees. It is supposed that one reason for the new charge is to compensate for declining oil revenue by taking advantage of the large numbers of expats living in the city.
Although it is a relatively small increase, some expats are not impressed by the extra monthly expense.
